Save democracy, one polling place at a time.
This year, Philadelphia’s Elections Board is calling on young people to serve as substitute poll workers on November 4 to help keep lines moving and make sure every voter can cast their ballot smoothly.
What Poll Workers Do
Poll workers are the people who greet voters, check them in, and guide them through the process. They make sure polling places run fairly, safely, and on time. Without enough poll workers, long lines can discourage participation, and that’s where you come in.
What’s Required
You must be at least 17 years old (with permission) or older to serve.
You’ll need to complete a short training session before Election Day.
On Election Day, you’ll work a full shift at an assigned polling place.
What You Get
$200 for working the polls on Election Day
$80 for completing the training
$280 total—and the thanks of your entire community
Why It Matters
When young people step in as poll workers, we help reduce wait times, increase accessibility, and show that our generation is committed to civic life. It’s hands-on democracy—and you don’t even need to be old enough to vote to make a difference.
How to Serve
If you’re ready to take action, get the info you need and sign up with the Philadelphia Elections Board today. Your service will make voting smoother, faster, and fairer for everyone on November 4.
