Faruq Adger is one of two Youth Leaders for Summer Jawn 2025. Faruq recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors. At Penn, Faruq received a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Linguistics Anthropology with a minor in Africana Studies. Faruq uses his studies to understand the human experience through culture and language to advocate for equity and inclusion within youth and young adult spaces. He uses his understanding of Anthropology and Africana studies to influence messages within his art, using his skills to educate and advocate for themes connected to social justice. Faruq advocates for marginalized and silenced voices and hopes to pursue a career in social justice work within the Philadelphia community where he was born and raised.
